Auburn Sunday

Some afternoons, Pluto, Noodle, Luna (3 dogs) and I, go for a drive.  We go to find new places; pretty neighborhoods, dog-friendly parks, quiet woodlands.  Last spring, I came across, what has since become my favorite Sunday outing.  Riverwood Drive is gorgeous.  It’s a beautiful drive, it’s a Sunday-afternoon-kind-of drive.  An eclectic variety of comely homes surrounded by elegant lawns look out over Lake Rousseau.  Along both sides of the narrow, winding road, live oaks wear sleeves of Spanish moss.  On the west side of the lake is where you can find the Inglis dam and recreation area.  Plenty of parking, several boat ramps, three large covered dock/jetty’s with picnic tables.  Glorious views and breezes fill and inspire. The actual dam is loud, angry water squeezing through the spillway.   Yeah,… we don’t dawdle there; makes us nervous and all three dogs pull on their leads to reach other side of the dam.  A picnic meadow with a pavilion and off at the far end, trails curl through rich woodlands.  On this Sunday afternoon, the pine bark is made vibrant under the sun’s auburn-colored light.  The trails, used by horses, bicyclists and couples walking hand-in hand, wind around for several miles,  although on this Sunday afternoon, it’s just us.  Beautiful place to live close to.  How lucky am I?
